🦫Labor Day Greetings😓
Greetings from San Diego where I am emerging from a nasty bout of Covid. Most of my family got it too. With school only recently back in session it meant a lot of disruption around the house…
Just when I was getting re-burned out, Labor Day comes around. I always loved the concept of Labor Day, even before I was a “Union Member”, feeling slightly underserving of a three-day weekend after 90 days of summer. It always felt decadent, like going back for seconds…of dessert! I treasure it more than usual these days, a tiny chance to pause the incessant pace of life…
MEMORY: As you may recall, I recently enjoyed unplugging from the ‘spotlight’. No email, no podcast interviews, & especially no social media. What really surprised and delighted me was…no one really cared! My hot takes weren’t missed and no one was champing at the bit for Keating’s Instagram reels. I’d like to attribute that to folks getting their social media fixes elsewhere, or maybe unplugging themselves. Or maybe I’ve reached a level of irrelevancy that I feared.
Either way, I’ll br experimenting with more ‘digital detox’ in the future. I am trying to follow some of Cal Newport’s suggestions in his many books on the subject. Maybe I’ll get him on The INTO THE IMPOSSIBLE Podcast. Does anyone have his email address? 😂
PS. Welcome to all the newbies. The rest of this year is going to be incredible. Stay tuned for wonderful guests like Nick Bostrom, Niall Ferguson, Lord Martin Rees, Neil Turok, Avi Loeb, Bernardo Kastrup, and more!!
