String Theory: String Theory attempts to explain all the forces and particles of the universe as vibrations on a tiny, one-dimensional string. String theory is a popular theory of everything that suggests that all matter, energy, and the fundamental forces of nature are composed of incredibly small vibrating strings. Here’s a video to learn more:

  • M-theory: M-theory is an extension of string theory that attempts to incorporate all five of the string theories into a single unified theory using ‘membranes’, hence the M in the prefix. Here’s a video to learn more:
  • Loop Quantum Gravity: Loop quantum gravity is a proposal for a background independent, quantum theory of gravity. Here’s a video to learn more: A NEW CONTENDER:
  • Supergravity Theory: Supergravity Theory is an extension of String Theory which incorporates gravity into the same framework as the other forces, unifying them into a single theory.
  • Holographic Principle: The Holographic Principle is a theory which states that the universe is a hologram and that all information about the universe can be described in two dimensions.

Bonus: Causal Dynamical Triangulation: Causal dynamical triangulation is a theory of quantum gravity that, like loop quantum gravity, is background independent. https://youtu.be/lzJpC78zduo
